Daily Drift is a personal journaling app designed with privacy at its core. Your thoughts and journal entries are yours alone. We believe your personal reflections should remain private, and we've built Daily Drift to ensure that.

What We Believe

Your journal entries are never transmitted to our servers. We don't collect them, we don't read them, and we don't have access to them. Period.

Information Storage

Your Journal Data (Stored Locally Only)

All of your personal data is stored exclusively on your device:

• Journal entries - Your daily reflections and writing
• Mood selections - Your chosen moods for each entry
• Statistics - Your writing streaks and activity history
• App settings - Your notification preferences and security settings

This data is stored in your device's private app storage container and is protected by iOS's built-in security features.

What Happens to Your Data

Your data is protected and under your control:

• Stored on your device only - Never uploaded to our servers
• Deleted when you delete the app - Uninstalling Daily Drift permanently removes all your data
• Optional Face ID protection - Add an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access
• Export capability - You can export your data at any time through the app's Settings

Information We Collect

Configuration Data (Minimal Technical Information)

Daily Drift uses Firebase Remote Config to deliver important app updates and maintenance notifications. This service receives:

• Your app version number (e.g., "1.0.0")
• Your device platform (iOS or Android)
• Configuration fetch timestamps

Crash and Diagnostic Data (Mobile App Only)

To improve app stability and fix bugs, we collect crash reports and diagnostic information through Firebase Crashlytics when the app crashes or encounters errors. This includes:

• Crash logs and stack traces
• Device model and manufacturer
• Operating system version
• App version number
• Timestamp of the crash
• App state at the time of the crash

Important: Crash reports do not contain your journal entries or any personal content you create in the app.

Website Analytics (Website Only)

Our website uses Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the site and to improve performance. This privacy-focused analytics service collects:

• Page views and navigation patterns
• Referral sources (where you came from)
• Device type and browser information
• Geographic location (country-level only)
• Page load performance metrics

Important: Vercel Analytics does not use cookies, does not track you across websites, and does not collect personally identifiable information.

How We Use Information

We use the technical information we collect for the following purposes:

1. App Configuration: Notify you of critical app updates, display maintenance messages, and ensure you're using a compatible version
2. Crash Reporting: Identify and fix bugs, improve app stability, and enhance the user experience
3. Website Analytics: Understand how visitors use our website, improve site performance, and optimize the user experience

We do not use this information for advertising, user tracking, or any other purpose beyond improving our app and website.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to anyone.

Your journal entries remain on your device and are never transmitted to us or any third party.

• Google (Firebase): For app configuration and crash reporting to improve app stability

• Delete all data - Uninstalling the app permanently removes all your information
• Enable Face ID - Add biometric protection to your journal (Settings → Security)
• Control notifications - Enable or disable daily reminders (Settings → Notifications)

Data Security

We take your privacy seriously:

• All data is stored in your device's secure app container
• Optional Face ID/Touch ID adds app-level authentication

Children's Privacy

Daily Drift does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. All data created in the App is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. The App is designed for general audiences and does not require any personal information to use.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Privacy Policy.
